Trevor and Mary Johnston - Missionaries to France

Trevor Johnston was born in England, attended Sheffield University, and graduated with a teaching degree.  He then moved to France and was teaching there when the Lord asked him to move to Kansas City to attend Nazarene Theological Seminary and better prepare to serve Him.  (He had received a call to missions at the age of 16.)  He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree.

Mary Johnston was born in Coshocton, Ohio, attended the Ohio State University, and graduated with a degree in dietetics.  She was called to be a missionary as a pre-teen, and also attended Nazarene Theological Seminary.

It was at NTS that Trevor and Mary met and married.  They were appointed as missionaries in the Church of the Nazarene in 1983.  They served first in Haiti where Trevor was the academic dean of the Bible College and Mary worked in the nutrition clinics for malnourished children under the age of five.  Their son, Andrew, was born on August 8, 1985, and Matthew was born on September 21, 1987.

Their second assignment was in the French Antilles, which included the Caribbean islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe, and St. Martin.  Trevor served as district superintendent and pastor.  Following this, they were assigned to France where they have been since 1994.  Trevor has served as district superintendent, church planter and pastor, and director of field education.  He is also responsible for French publications and has various other duties.  Mary has helped in church planting, hostessing, mentoring, and as a general "girl Friday".

This year, the family is adjusting to having Andrew away at Mount Vernon Nazarene University as a student.  This is probably harder on Mom and Dad than the children.

Please remember to pray for France.  Pray also for new vision and revival in the French Nazarene churches.  The spiritual forces of evil are here in abundance, and evangelical Christians are few in number to combat them.  Approximately half of one percent of the French population (0.5%) are born again.
